RIDHE participates in the Preparatory Seminar for the VI Latin American and Caribbean-European Union Academic Summit (ALC-EU)

January 2025

We are pleased to share our participation in the LaVI Latin American and Caribbean-European Union Academic Summit (ALC-EU), held at the National University of Costa Rica on January 30 and 31, 2025. This event brought together academics, researchers and students from both regions to discuss the present and future of higher education, science, technology and innovation.

The importance of promoting academic dialogue as an engine for equity, inclusion and collective well-being was emphasized, laying the basis for the day's reflections. In addition, the fundamental role of higher education institutions in responding to contemporary challenges was emphasized, a key point for organizations such as RIDHE, which works through the Emergency Education Program and its main objective is to restore the right to inclusive and quality education for young people, boys, girls, women and teachers in Latin America and the Caribbean in situations of forced mobility as a result of the socio-political crisis in their countries.

Some of the key issues addressed at the summit:

- The future of higher education in the face of global challenges and the digital transition.
- Artificial Intelligence in education.
- Academic contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) .
- Biregional academic integration.

Our participation in this space allowed us to highlight the urgency of policies and concrete actions to protect the right to education of those who have been forced to flee their countries. In a context where education is key to the reconstruction of life projects, our presence reaffirms RIDHE's commitment to promoting the right to inclusive and quality education.

Emergency Education

We promote inclusive and quality education, focusing especially on people in situations of forced mobility, humanitarian crises and at risk of social exclusion.
