Last Friday, March 21, RIDHE participated in the discussion “Challenges of the current situation: urgencies and contexts of migration”, organized by the Migration and Human Rights Project of the UCR, within the framework of the event “We move to live! Current migratory movements”.
In our intervention, we address key challenges that impact the rights of people in situations of forced mobility:
✅ Migration restrictions and access to international protection: The suspension of migration programs by the United States seriously affects the right to international protection, especially for migrants from Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua. ✅ Impact of the freezing of USAID funds: This measure has an impact on cooperation, weakening technical and financial support for exiled civil society organizations that work in the defense of human rights and democracy.
✅ New challenges and opportunities: Faced with a challenging context, it is crucial to strengthen resilience and develop innovative methodologies for the protection and defense of the human rights of those who are forced to migrate.
In a complex landscape, it is essential to continue promoting strategies that guarantee democratic civic spaces and effective responses to migratory crises.
