At the end of each year, at a formal plenary sitting in Strasbourg, the European Parliament awards the highest recognition of the European Union given to human rights extraordinary trajectories.
Awarded for the first time in 1988, this year’s shortlist of three candidates are Julian Assange, the people of Ukraine and their representatives, and the Colombian Truth Commission.
