Background Event
This initiative aims to create and strengthen feminist alliances for the defence and visibility of women human rights defenders, who are currently under attack on various fronts and are suffering the consequences of these attacks, even losing their lives.
At the same time, this initiative aims to strengthen local actors and the migrant population, who are forced to move and are constantly under attack in defence of the human rights of girls and women.
The aim is to build spaces where it is possible to stimulate recognition of the work and contribution of women in defending human rights, by supporting local processes and women from the South.
On 9 March 2023, the International Human Rights Network Europe (RIDHE) organised a webinar entitled: Feminist resilience: experiences of women human rights defenders in Latin America and the Caribbean.
The panel consisted of four women human rights defenders from Peru, Nicaragua and Honduras. As part of Women’s Day, this webinar aims to give visibility to their struggle and promote the exchange of good practice between them.
